How to cook

Cook Cintueng air-dried noodles in 3 steps

No soaking needed — straight into boiling water

  1. Bring water to a rolling boil
    01

Bring water to a rolling boil

Use at least 1 litre of water per noodle block. With plenty of water, the noodles won't stick together and the temperature won't drop when you add them

  2. Add the noodles, boil 2 minutes
    02

Add the noodles, boil 2 minutes

Add the air-dried noodles, wait 20 seconds, then stir gently with chopsticks to loosen them. Boil for 2 minutes in total, then lift out and drain straight away (add 30 seconds if you like them softer)

  3. Season and add your favourite toppings
    03

Season and add your favourite toppings

The pack contains only noodles, so season them your way: toss with garlic oil, soy sauce and chilli flakes for dry noodles, or add hot broth for noodle soup. Top with pork mince, meatballs and greens, and enjoy

Tips

For the springiest noodles

Don't overcook

2 minutes is the sweet spot. Cook longer and the noodles get too soft and go soggy quickly

Dry noodles: toss in garlic oil straight away

As soon as you lift them out, toss with fried garlic and a little oil. The noodles won't stick and they'll smell great

Noodle soup: noodles first, then broth

Put the noodles in the bowl and pour boiling broth over them. They won't go soggy because they haven't been sitting in the pot

Cooking FAQ

Can I cook them in the microwave?+

Yes. Put the noodles in a microwave-safe bowl, cover with hot water and microwave on high for 2½ minutes. Stir, then drain. Cooking in a pot gives you springier noodles, though.

My noodles stuck together in a clump+

There wasn't enough water, or it wasn't boiling yet when you added the noodles. Next time, use more water, wait for a rolling boil, and stir 20 seconds after adding the noodles.

Can I make stir-fried noodles?+

Yes. Boil for just 1½ minutes, drain, then finish them in the wok or pan. They won't turn mushy.

Are they OK for young children?+

The noodles aren't fried, and there's no seasoning powder in the pack, so you can season them lightly or use your own homemade broth.
